Conserving Ontario's Endangered Wood Turtle

The greatest threats to the survival of the Wood Turtle are loss of habitat, road fatalities and the illegal pet trade. Wood Turtle populations are spread across Canada. Unfortunately, there are not enough resources dedicated towards educating civil society about the threats faced by Wood Turtles and why their conservation is so important. As a result, the desired results in mitigating the threats to the Wood Turtle have not been achieved, let alone its timely conservation. At Green Hope Foundation, we seek to rectify this lack of knowledge about the endangered Wood Turtle amongst civil society by using a multi-pronged approach that entails education in schools, field trips and public awareness campaigns, so that we are able to bring back the endangered Wood Turtle from the brink of extinction and preserve the biodiversity of Ontario.
