We Want Books, Not Nukes is Green Hope Foundation's flagship peace and disarmament education initiative, inspiring children and young people to become champions of peace, compassion, and global citizenship, and thus localizing SDG 16. We believe that sustainable peace begins with education, and that every child has the right to understand the world they will inherit.

For too long, nuclear weapons have been shrouded in secrecy and treated as subjects too complex or sensitive for children and young people. We Want Books, Not Nukes removes that veil of secrecy through creative, age-appropriate learning experiences that encourage curiosity, dialogue, and hope rather than fear.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

​​Using music, art, dance, drama, sports, storytelling, and interactive workshops, we help children explore the humanitarian and environmental consequences of nuclear weapons while fostering empathy, critical thinking, cooperation, and respect for all life. By making peace education engaging and accessible, we empower young people to become confident advocates for non-violence, diplomacy, and a more just and sustainable future.

 

We Want Books, Not Nukes carries this simple yet powerful message: our future will never be secured by weapons of mass destruction, but instead, will be created by educated, compassionate, and empowered young people.
